Itinerary
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at your accommodation by your guide between 9 am and 12 pm according to your wishes.
You’ll walk for 45 minutes to reach the Bat Cave. On the way, you’ll walk along the river and pass the small tourist shops and restaurants in Bukit Lawang. After exiting the village, you’ll be surrounded by nature. You’ll cross rubber- and palm oil plantations, fruit trees and more vegetation. Your guide will share his knowledge about all of the flora and fauna you encounter on the way. If you’re lucky, you might even spot an Orangutan or other wildlife such as Thomas Leaf Monkeys or Long Tail Macaques!
Enter the Bat Cave by climbing over big rocks. Once inside, turn on your head- or flashlight and explore three chambers full of stalagmites and stalactites. You’ll also see thousands of bats and maybe even spiders, scorpions, snakes and/or other insects.
After exploring the Bat Cave for approximately one hour, you’ll continue to walk for 30 minutes to go to Landak River. There you can relax, enjoy the calm and quiet atmosphere or refresh yourself in the river. Your guide will prepare a delicious BBQ with chicken or fish, rice and a tropical fruit salad!
After enjoying the tasty BBQ, you’ll walk back to Bukit Lawang and your guide will bring you back to your accommodation.
