Local Village Tour

Experience traditional local life in North Sumatra!

Itinerary

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at your accommodation by your guide between 9 am and 12 pm according to your wishes. You’ll then be taken to your transportation for the day: a becak or bicycles.

Exit Bukit Lawang and pass the beautifully green ricefields with the hills of Gunung Leuser National Park on the background. Ask your guide to stop if you’d like to enjoy the scenery for a moment and/or take pictures.

Get a chance to see how local people in Sumatra work and live their lives. You’ll continue the journey and see traditional small villages, schools, rubber- and cacao plantations, fruit trees and palm oil plantations.

Next, you’ll visit small local factories and observe the homemade production of brown sugar and tofu - the traditional way!

On Fridays and Sundays, you even get to visit the traditional local markets. You can find a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and other unique food items to delight your senses!

Before your Local Village Tour comes to an end, you get to enjoy a delicious and freshly harvested young coconut. You will be brought back to Bukit Lawang and dropped off at your accommodation by your guide.
